In a remarkable race, Chris Gutierrez stretched out a victory over Tanner Watkins by one one hundreth of a second. The two spent the entire final run battling, all the while being mindful of those final drops in the gas tank. The Ford Performance Racing camp reported that Gutierrez barely had enough to make the finish line, much less make another lap. Rick Music came in a close third, while Connor Harrington finished 4th after a recovery from a mid race speeding penalty. Brendan Long rounded out the Top 5. Stephen Laarkamp emerged still leading the points standings, but by a much slimmer margin than he entered Indiana with. Laarkamp leads by 8 points over both Chris Gutierrez and Rick Music. Brendan Long sits 4th and Stephen Taylor holds 5th. Ford Performance Racing leads the Teams Championship by 51 points over BMWC Racing, while Honda leads the Manufacturers Standings by 5 over Ford.

Drop, Drop, Drop

Drops mattered quite a bit to Stephen Laarkamp tonight. Leading from the drop of the green to the drop of the checkers, and in the end making the last out of every drop of fuel. Following a rain delay that pushed the Mazda Grand Prix back a week on the schedule. Laarkamp collected max points over Stephen Taylor who made the best of other's late misfortune, and Kenyon Payne. Danny Roberts finished a heartbreaking fourth after draining the tank dry on the final lap. Connor Harrington rounded out the top five.  Max points tonight meant Laarkamp pulled away to a very commanding lead in the points. Taylor sits second, twenty four back, with Music in third after electrical woes tonight. Next week the big daddy, the Indianapolis 500.  All the action from the Hoosier State can be found on CenterForce TV as always.

Despite strong challenges from behind all race long, Jonathan Goke held strong at the front and took victory in the Formula World Series season opener under the Southern California lights. Maxing out on points by taking pole and leading 85 laps, Goke won by two tenths at the line over Rick Music with Stephen Laarkamp trailing under a half second behind. Three cautions slowed the race for a total of nine laps. Goke, Chris Gutierrez, and Brendan Long traded the lead six times. After the first of twelve rounds, Jonathan Goke holds a 17 point advantage over Rick Music, and 22 over Stephen Laarkamp.
