The flat mile and a half of Twin Ring Motegi in Japan saw a race of attrition play out just right for both Caeton Bomersbach and Stephen Laarkamp. Bomersbach played off bad luck and good strategy jumping Gutierrez, Taylor, Laarkamp and others. Following wall contact late in the race for Gutierrez, Bomersbach stayed out and turned the half second deficit into a two second lead. But lurking in the background, Stephen Laarkamp clinched the Inaugural Formula World Series Title by finishing in third, just behind Chris Gutierrez. Danny Roberts needed to finish ahead of Laarkamp but was caught in an early race accident and finished 12th. Chris Gutierrez took pole and lead the most laps, finished second. Laarkamp finished 3rd, Stephen Taylor and Brendan Long rounded out the top 5. The Formula World Series heads to the final stop on the 2016 Summer Season Schedule, Texas Motor Speedway, for The 400 presented by Chevrolet. The second longest race on the schedule following the Indianapolis 500. Tune in to CenterForce TV for all your ISDC action.

Danny Roberts is a race winner and champion caliber driver. Roberts is not the sort of driver expected to get his first win in anything on luck but to some degree, that happened tonight. Roberts took victory over Caeton Bomersbach, Tanner Watkins rounded out the podium albiet one lap down after a pit cycle trapped many cars a lap down. Chris Gutierrez lead 96 laps tonight but was collected in an accident with Phil Clark that restrained the Kansas driver to 13th. A late race caution also allowed Bomersbach to grab fresh tires. Roberts only had to defend for so long, before a late race caution lead to the race finishing under Yellow. Stephen Laarkamp finished 5th and on the back of two bad finishes for Gutierrez, Laarkamp's points lead sits at 25 points. Danny Roberts sits 3rd, 48 back. Kentucky Speedway will host round 9 of the 12 race season next week. It's sure to provide lots of sidepod to sidepod close quarters action.
